A gifted writer, historian, and distinguished educator, Dr. Hamilton has dedicated nearly twenty-five years to the pursuit of educational excellence and advanced study.  She holds a Ph.D. in History from Princeton University (2015), where she earned her doctorate while writing on the topic of race, politics and education in the nation's capital. She currently teaches at Loyola University Chicago as an Assistant Professor of History, where she’s designing African American History courses.

She also holds a Master’s in African American Studies from Columbia University (2004) and a Bachelor’s in History (cum laude) from Dartmouth College (1998). She currently is working on a book entitled Making a Model System: The Battle for Educational Equality in the Nation's Capital before Brown.

She also has taught at the Latin School of Chicago, Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., as well as Fieldston, Poly Prep, and Rye Country Day School, three elite private schools in New York.

Over the course of her time as an educator and a student, Dr. Hamilton has written and evaluated thousands of essays! In recent years, she has worked with numerous scholars to revise manuscripts, many of which have been published!

She also has worked across various academic fields, assisting multiple age groups and at varying educational levels.  She has offered individual and group writing workshops, and she has led tutorial sessions for the SAT II, college admissions essays, and dissertation writing/research-gathering.

Drawing upon her expertise as a professionally-trained historian, she also has developed historical content for individual clients and companies. With much of her work centering around issues of race, gender, and the history of education, she has engaged large audiences through diversity-related presentations, as well. Examples include: Penn State University, Plante Moran, Humanities Texas, along with the many organizations for which she has presented, including most recently the National Women’s History Museum. She also has served as a consultant to one of the nation’s most preeminent leaders and scholars, Dr. Johnnetta B. Cole, with whom she collaborated on her book entitled Racism in American Public Life: A Call to Action (2021).
